40 Days Thru The Gospel of John
To read through the Gospel of John in 40 days takes only 15 minutes a day to read 20-30 verses. The formation of this spiritual habit can change your life! We invite you to embark on this journey of 40 days thru John’s Gospel beginning March 1, 2017.
Rev. Sandra C. Sistare is asking that all members and friends join her by reading, fasting and praying together as a church family and members in particular in the Body of Christ.
The Steps to Devotion
1. READ: Quiet your heart, turn off any distractions and let go of your straying thoughts, give yourself to the Lord. Read the Scripture verses for the day slowly, let the words guide your heart. Are there any words of phrases that catch your attention? Consider their meaning.
2. REFLECT: Let the Word of God illuminate you, consider the reason the Lord wants you to read these words today. What is the Lord saying to you through these words? Take time to consider the heart of God behind the words you read.
3. RESPOND: Mediate on the words and focus on how you will respond to these words today. Consider any promises to claim, attitudes to change, challenges to accept, sins to confess, commands to obey, actions to take, examples to follow. Focus on one takeaway action item for today.
4. REST: After you have responded to God’s Word, now receive His Word gratefully, quietly resting in His love for you. Prayerfully commit yourself to live for the Lord in accordance with His Word.
