Camp Meeting
Camp Meeting - The Tradition
“Camp Meeting was a BIG event. Even now, tell anyone that you are a member of Steele Hill and they may not remember the name, but; if you describe the church with an arbor on Highway 521, and for those who remember, will usually add something about Steele Hill Camp Meeting. Camp meetings of the past had marching bands, food for the spirit and for the body. Camp meetings gave children a reason for staying up all night. Camp meeting brought closure to summer fashion and ushered in fall fashion for the women of the church. Camp meeting was held Wednesday – Sunday and on Sunday, the women donned a new fall hat.”
